Warnings:Nothing really. Contains cannon character death, a bit of naughty language and some references to eventual sex. Oh, and a smooch or two. Really, I didn't know I could write something this tame and enjoy it so much.
Spoilers: Takes place just after the series ends for Buffy, just after the beginning of the episode Kali pt II for Sanctuary, and Exile on Main St. for Supernatural.
Summary:While studying at Stanford, Sam Winchester meets Sanctuary director Helen Magnus. The unlikely friendship that springs up between them changes things for both of their worlds, after Dean finds Helen's contact information on his quest to save Sam after his brother goes to Hell to save the world. Because Helen has friends in very unlikely places, and when she asks Rupert Giles for his expertise on all things demonic, she starts a chain reaction that has consequences no one could have foreseen. Sometimes you can get what you wish for, even if you don't know you wished it, and even the things you want the least can end up making you stronger, but you have to survive them first.
Author’s Notes:I know, the timelines don’t quite match. Fortunately, this is fiction, so we can all pretend present day is happening at the same time in each universe. Before anything else, I have to send a huge thank you out to

Author’s Notes: This was a hard story to write, winding a real world tragedy into fiction like this is not something I would ever do lightly, however when I knew I wanted to write a pre-series meeting between Dean and Faith I found Supernatural's own canon pretty much forced me to address it. I am hugely indebted to

bellatemple who helped me hugely (without her ever knowing how much) with her memories as a volunteer in New Orleans. I also owe a huge debt of gratitude to

telaryn who saw the first draft of this and didn't laugh at how terrible it was!

In the next couple of days we will be determining if we need pinch hitter artists for some stories or not. A pinch hitter is an arist who steps in to do the art for a story where the artist has withdrawn from the challenge.

Okay, its almost time guys. Final fic drafts and art rough drafts (so you don't have to have the art complete but you do need to be able to show you have started and made progress on the art) are due May 23rd give or take a few hours (or even a day, just get it in so I don't freak out and send you frantic PMs please :D)

Please follow these instructions to submit your final fic and art drafts. This way we can know where people are and where to put them in the posting schedule (so authors and artists that are done will go towards the beginning, while ones that need some more time will be scheduled towards the end).

IF YOU AREN'T FINISHED DON'T WORRY! That is why we asked for you to tell us if its complete or not, I will try to work those people that need more time later on in the schedule.

Also, after this there will be a post made asking when you absolutely CAN'T post, so make sure you comment there so we don't assign you a date that doesn't work for you.

gsd_rtfn, a great community that runs in week long rounds of intensive writing. You are able to share snippets of your fics with other writers and if your interested in taking part in this round sign ups are here.

Good luck to everyone and in the next week there will be a post up on how to turn in your final draft. Remember, those are due May 23rd (two weeks away!).

Also, if your author or artist hasn't been in contact with you yet please leave a comment here and we will do our best to get things fixed right away. Because we have artists is so many different timezones we want to do our best to accomadate all of them. If you are signed up as an artist please fill out the following poll, artists only need to fill it out.

It's time to start turning in your rough drafts!

If you need to drop out do so at this post

You have until April 20th to email us your rough draft, as long as its the 20th somewhere you are good. If you think you'll get it in a day or two late send us an email letting us know to expect your fic.

Ideally your rough draft needs to be more than 15,000 words and completed, however since these are rough drafts at least turn in 10,000 words with more than 80% of the fic done. I've accepted less in the past rounds and will only do so again if the author is ABSOLUTELY sure they will finish the story and they can given the artist enough to work with.

PLEASE KEEP THE CODING IN YOUR EMAIL!, we copy and paste this part into the claims and its really a pain to have to redo all the coding. The only things that will be taken out is the LJ username, percent complete, and current word count. Pay special attention to the summary because that is what artists will be using to claim a story so make sure to spellcheck it and be aware of the length (a sentence or two won't be enough for an artist to make a claim but claims are first come first served and an artist might overlook a huge block of text)

Then add your fic as an attachment, we would prefer it if you had it as an .doc but we can take .docx and .rtf

Any questions about submitting your rough draft comment with them to this post and we will help you all we can.

We are getting close to the time when rough drafts will be due and we know not everyone will be able to finish the challenge. In the next couple of weeks chances are we will sending out a series of annoying emails reminding authors who haven't turned in their drafts to turn them in. So, if you will be able to complete the challenge please comment with the following and we will remove you from the spreadsheet.

There will be no consequences, and we would love to see you again in the next round and hope you are able to finish your story. All comments are screened so the mods will be the only ones to see this.
